May 4, 2007 - Hospital employment climbed to 4.5 million workers in April, a one-month increase of about 0.1 percent, or 6,600 employees, according to seasonally adjusted, preliminary figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. For the year ended in April, hospital payrolls rose by roughly 2.2 percent, or 95,700 workers.
Physician-office employment increased to 2.21 million workers in April, a bump of around 0.3 percent, or 7,100 employees. For the 12 months ended in April, physician-office employment climbed about 3.5 percent, or 74,000 workers.
