April 19, 2007 - Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc. unveiled the addition of high-definition (HD) technology to its Image 1 products, which combines the highest resolution available (1080p) with a widescreen view of endoscopic images, at SAGES 2007 annual meeting.
The resolution of Image 1 full HD reportedly provides clarity, color contrast and depth perception during endoscopy, giving surgeons improved viewing and enabling them to better distinguish between anatomical planes. The addition is said to enhance landmark recognition and identification of suspect tissue. Progressive scanning at 60 frames per second produces images with less distortion, especially during rapid instrument movement.
