October 7, 2007 — At GE Healthcare’s 2007 Media Day, the company discussed developments in its Biosciences Lab, including advanced breast cancer care and pre-symptomatic diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Among those developments is “wetware,” diagnostic pharmaceutical agents, protein biomarkers associated with disease and molecular imaging agents for cancer.
The lab is also adding new capabilities to providing diagnostic tools for drug discovery, spearheading new research collaborations with pharmaceutical companies aimed at early-stage discovery of novel imaging for drugs in the pipeline. The goal is to develop diagnostic tools that can help predict a patient’s response to targeted drug therapies for diseases, such as cancer or Alzheimer’s, and enhance their outcome.
