March 20, 2007 The Society for Women;s Health Research President and CEO Phyllis Greenberger, M.S.W., recently issued a statement regarding the FDA's decision to fund the Office of Women's Health in 2007, at the level requested by the president and Congress.
"The Society for Women's Health Research is delighted to learn that the FDA will fund its Office of Women's Health (OWH) in 2007 at the full $4 million requested by the president and Congress," stated Greenberger.
"The concerns about funding for OWH that arose last month underscore the need for Congress to pass the Women's Health Office Act of 2007 (S. 612/H.R. 1072). This legislation will protect offices of women's health at federal health agencies by providing them with statutory authorization. This will help stabilize their funding and validate their missions. We will work tirelessly to make sure this bill becomes law."
