February 26, 2008 - NEC Display Solutions of America received 510k market clearance for radiology from the FDA for the MD205MG 5-megapixel flat-panel monitor, sporting a 2560-by-2048 native resolution and featuring advanced in-plane switching (IPS) LCD technology, which offers 3,061 shades of gray.
The display includes a backlight sensor and DICOM calibration, as well as 30-millisecond response time and a contrast ratio of 600:1. The display’s pivoting stand allows for use in landscape or portrait orientation. GammaCompMDT software, supplied with the MD monitor system, supports different sensors for calibration, including both external colorimeters for direct measurement at the surface and spot luminance meters for distance measurement.
The 5MP display also is RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) compliant, with fully disposable plastics, reportedly containing no hazardous materials such as hex-chrome, cadmium, PBDE and PBB, and limited amounts of mercury and lead.
The NEC MD205-DRV bundle includes two NEC MD205MG 5MP DICOM GSDF-calibrated grayscale displays, one 5MP dual head, PCIe, Realvision SMD Advance video card and GammaCompMD Quality Assurance software.
