October 5, 2009 – Eizo Nanao Corp. introduced the DisplayPort-equipped, RadiForce RS210, a new 2 megapixel (1600 degrees x 1200 native resolution) color LCD monitor designed for displaying CT and MRI monochrome images and ultrasound, endoscope, and nuclear medicine color images in a PACS environment.
The RadiForce RS210 succeeds the RadiForce R22 and utilizes a new IPS (in-plane switching) panel offering improvement of maximum brightness from 250 cd/m2 to 300 cd/m2, and contrast ratio from 550:1 to 1000:1. The high contrast ratio results in deep black, ensuring colors such as red, yellow, and blue retain their richness when displaying color images. It also brings out the subtle differences in similar shades of grayscale and sharper rendering of details when displaying monochrome images.
Like all the other RadiForce diagnostic monitors, the grayscale tones for each RadiForce RS210 unit are adjusted at the factory to comply with DICOM Part 14. Furthermore, they are calibration compliant with the DICOM Part 14 to ensure continuing monitor quality control.
The RadiForce RS210 is one of the first monitors from the RadiForce series that comes with DisplayPort next generation connectivity. With a DisplayPort connection, the RadiForce RS210 supports 10-bit input for each RGB color*, displaying more than one billion colors simultaneously, and providing smooth color and grayscale for 3D color rendering and image fusion.
The five-year warranty is valid in every country where an EIZO subsidiary or distributor is located. This ensures stable and reliable performance needed for displaying medical images. EIZO’s confidence in its product quality extends to brightness stability which is also covered during the usage time specified in the warranty.
EIZO incorporates its latest application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) into the RadiForce RS210. This ASIC contains a Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) function to compensate for luminance non-uniformity, something characteristic of all LCD panels. DUE corrects luminance uniformity errors for every grayscale tone to ensure even uniformity across the screen and from monitor to monitor. DUE also corrects chromaticity uniformity errors enabling this color monitor to display accurate monochrome images wherever on the screen. This ensures that the monitor can meet the uniformity requirements for standards such as AAPM, DIN, and EUREF.
The RadiForce RS210 comes with a CAL Switch function which has various calibration modes for different modalities such as DSA (digital subtraction angiography), MRI, and CT. Switching between modes is done by pressing a button on the front bezel or by using the bundled ScreenManager Pro for Medical software to assign a mode to a specific application so that when the application is opened it automatically displays images in the assigned mode.
