August 12, 2010 - A needle guidance system for transducers has been released to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Ultra-Pro II needle guidance system from Civco Medical Solutions utilizes a two-part system consisting of a custom reusable biopsy bracket and a disposable snap-on needle guide. These tools offer physicians reduced technique variability, a shorter learning curve and reduced procedure time.

The single-use design will be used for Medison’s C1-4EC transducer on the AccuVIX XQ and EKO 7 ultrasound platforms. The Ultra-Pro II needle guidance system is designed to increase the productivity of ultrasound-guided procedures including core tissue biopsy, fluid aspirations and catheter placement.

Needle Guidance Systems
The Ultra-Pro II needle guide snaps securely onto the single-angle bracket incorporating more flexibility and advanced features to increase productivity during ultrasound-guided procedures.

The needle guide directs instruments according to on-screen software guidelines and holds the needle as it is advanced, providing a smooth insertion, while allowing you to see what you puncture. The Ultra-Pro II also features a larger tab for simple quick-release function, allowing easy detachment of the needle from transducer.

Easy-to-read gauge sizes on the inserts make it simple to identify and alter gauge sizes in a darkened ultrasound suite. The guide also features a larger funnel for instrument insertion and will accept a full range of sizes including: 8.5 Fr, 14-23 Ga. (19 Ga. not available).
