Candelis, Inc. announced yesterday an advanced Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solution to its ImageGrid 1000 and 700 which integrates the Sony LIB-81 and LIB-162 series Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) libraries with ImageGrid ILM software.
The ImageGrid is a line of fully-integrated DICOM server appliances. The collaboration with Sony brings the unique capabilities of the LIB-81 and LIB-162 series tape libraries which include providing a simplified HIPPA-compliant backup solution and allowing ImageGrid customers to take advantage of the series’ AIT format. Advantages of the AIT format include a Remote Memory-In-Cassette (R-MIC) and an embedded radio frequency transponder, to optimize tape access and data retrieval, provide a safeguard for data and reduce administrative overhead related to tape handling.
“Our engineering collaboration with Candelis represents an excellent opportunity to offer ImageGrid customers the benefit of Sony’s industry-leading tape technology,” said Alan Sund, general manager for Sony Electronics’ Tape Storage division. “The AIT tape libraries have been tested and tightly integrated with both the ImageGrid ILM software and server appliance to provide high-capacity, easy-to-maintain, reliable tape storage for medical imaging applications.”
