November 1, 2007 - Philips brought to ASTRO 2007 its Brilliance CT Big Bore system designed specifically for radiation oncology and provides image quality, accuracy and workflow efficiency, while facilitating shorter exam times for patients.
The 85-centimeter system reportedly encompasses an intuitive workflow environment and provides flexibility and ease of use. The Brilliance CT Big Bore includes, as standard, a couch and therapy tabletop that meet the requirements of the AAPM’s Task Group 66 guidelines. The new couch and therapy tabletop have a capacity of 650 pounds, addressing the needs of bariatric imaging. In addition, extended display field of view (70 centimeters) allows users to visualize outside the standard 60 cm SFOV to help avoid untargeted areas during treatment planning, according to the company.
