February 9, 2007 - Boston Scientific Corporation today announced the launch of “Focus on Fellows” (www.focusonfellows.com) – the first online career development resource specifically designed to help young for interventional cardiologists, radiologists and vascular surgeons find meaningful employment as they exit fellowship training.
The “Focus on Fellows” Website targets all physicians completing fellowship training in interventional cardiology, interventional radiology, vascular surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, and features sections addressing the job search process, employment contracting and post-fellowship options. It also includes a business resource library, clinical resources and links to other online professional resources. Other key features include “Ask the Business Expert,” in which a team of experienced, specialty-specific experts answer questions posed by fellows, and a “Fellows Forum,” which enables direct communication between site visitors and their peers.
Boston Scientific has partnered with BSM Consulting to create the “Focus on Fellows” Website, using content developed by BSM Consulting supported by a Boston Scientific educational grant.
“We’ve seen strong demand among our young members for educational materials to help guide their career development decisions,” said Bonnie Weiner, president-elect of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. “This site offers an excellent resource for our members as they complete their fellowships, search for that first job and launch their own practice.”
“As we approach the 30th anniversary of the first coronary angioplasty, graduating fellows represent nothing less than the future of minimally invasive therapy,” said Dr. Donald S. Baim, chief medical and scientific officer for Boston Scientific. “Everything we can do to ease their transition from fellowship to practice, and to partner in ongoing medical education, will be time well invested in that future.”
