Imaging Informatics Leaders Gather to Share Ideas, View New Products
Imaging Informatics leaders from across the globe gathered in Grapevine, Texas, last week to exchange ideas and network with their peers during the 2013 annual meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM). The event included opportunities to earn CME and CE credits while hearing experts from the field discuss key topics, including personalized medicine, decision support and surviving electronic medical record implementation. Two new Learning Tracks were introduced this year: Innovators and Entrepreneurship, and Reinventing the Radiologist. An interactive Town Hall discussion was also added to the educational mix, designed for attendees to ask questions and carry on conversations from previous learning track sessions. Also new this year for attendees was the ability to access online evaluations and process CE/CMEs using QR codes, which helped save time and eliminated hassles.
SIIM's signature networking receptions and meetups enabled attendees to meet new people, discuss pressing issues, share ideas and solutions, and create lasting connections with others in the imaging informatics community. And this year's exhibit hall offered opportunities that enhanced the knowledge and expertise of attendees including vendor presentations in the Innovation Theater, scientific posters and demonstrations, roundtable discussions, and the SIIM Workflow Initiative in Medicine (SWIM) Demonstration and Open Source Plug Fest. In addition, attendees spent time on the show floor viewing new products and services; highlights from the show floor are featured below.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the SIIM 2014 Annual Meeting May 15-17, 2014, at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. The Call for Abstracts deadline is September 9, 2013.
