The TotalCare Bed System 30-degree HOB Angle Alarm is designed to alert caregivers when the head of the bed falls below a 30-degree angle. Some studies have indicated that maintaining the patient's head of bed at a greater than 30-degree angle decreases the risk to the patient of ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) or the aspiration of gastric contents. The Head Angle indicator can monitor how long the head angle is above 30 degrees — for up to eight days — helping hospitals to comply with VAP prevention protocols and guidelines.
