March 3, 2009 - Barco won a large PACS display order from the Nürnberg Hospital South in Nürnberg, Germany to provide the facility with dedicated color and grayscale display systems for its multiple reading applications, along with a user-friendly solution for online Quality Assurance and asset management.
With 2,170 beds and 5,500 staff at two locations, the Nürnberg Hospital is the largest municipal hospital in Europe. In addition, Barco’s monitors were also selected for the affiliate hospital Nürnberg North. Together, these hospitals make up the largest municipal hospital group in Europe.
Included in Nürnberg’s new display fleet will be Barco’s brand-new Coronis Fusion 6MP DL display system. This 30-inch viewport is the world’s first diagnostic color display that can be used both as two seamless 3 MegaPixel displays or one uninterrupted 6 MegaPixel large-screen display. This flexible ‘Fusion’ architecture allows physicians to review various color and grayscale modalities, including CR, CT, MR, ultrasound, cath and echo cardiogram images, side-by-side on a single, seamless screen.
The Nürnberg Hospital will also deploy Barco’s user-friendly solution for Quality Assurance. This MediCal QAWeb tool is a secured online system which includes smart features for intervention-free calibration, QA and display asset management throughout the entire hospital group. Thanks to MediCal QAWeb, radiologists can be confident that their displays are constantly compliant with the German DIN guidelines.
