October 18, 2011 – Barco launched its brand-new Nio Color 2 MP HB, a 2- megapixel high-bright display system for dependable diagnostic viewing of color or grayscale images. With this new display, Barco expands its Nio family of high-performance diagnostic display systems.
Danny Deroo, product manager for diagnostic display systems at Barco Healthcare, explained, “The Nio Color 2 MP HB expands our Nio product line and brings our high-bright color technology to the 2-megapixel market. Featuring a color display with increased luminance, the new Nio is optimized for diagnostic imaging at a 2-megapixel resolution. The display is perfectly suited for color and grayscale modalities like 3-D PACS (picture archive and communications systems), 3-D echo, ultrasound, orthopedic imaging, MR (magnetic resonance), CR (computed radiography), CAD (computer-aided detection), image fusion, nuclear medicine and PET (positron emission tomography).”
The Nio Color 2 MP HB offers a high-bright LCD panel with a 1,600 x 1,200 resolution. Boasting a digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) calibrated luminance of 400 cd/m² throughout its entire life time, the new display system is fit for multi-modality diagnostic imaging. The Nio Color 2 MP HB offers unrivalled color accuracy, accurate grayscales, a high contrast ratio (1050:1) and a 176-degree viewing angle to ensure confident image reading. As part of the Nio family, the new 2MP color display comes with integrated Backlight Output Stabilization technology, ensuring fast power-up and long-term luminance stability.
Additionally, the Nio Color 2 MP HB is compatible with Barco's latest generation of high-performance MXRT display controllers, ensuring higher bandwidth, easy installation and fast communication. Featuring the latest AMD FirePro technology for high-speed image rendering, MXRT display controllers support the latest 3-D computed tomography (CT), MR and PET applications. Full compatibility with Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7 is ensured.
Barco's Nio Color 2 MP HB is bundled with a quality assurance (QA) solution – MediCal QAWeb solution. This online solution guarantees continuous diagnostic quality of the display by providing automated DICOM calibration, quality assurance, asset management, issue solving and advanced reporting. Furthermore, the Nio Color 2 MP HB complies with all currently available international QA standards and guidelines.
To protect the high-bright LCD panel against damage from intensive use in clinical environments, the Nio Color 2 MP HB features a protective front cover. Its non-reflective coating reduces reflections, improving the overall diagnostic experience. As for all other Barco diagnostic displays, the Nio Color 2 MP HB comes with a five-year warranty.
