December 3, 2007 - B. Braun Medical Inc. today launched its PINNACLE TPN Manager, complementing the company’s PINNACLE TPN Management System, which offers computer physician order entry (CPOE) and calculating software which streamlines the total parental nutrition (TPN) compounding process from the moment an order is entered by the pharmacist until the time it is infused into the patient.
The company will highlight the capabilities of this new resource at the 42nd American Society of Health-System Pharmacist Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibits (ASHP) being held Dec. 2-6 in Las Vegas.
Designed with the pharmacist in mind, the reportedly easy-to-use Windows browser-based PINNACLE TPN Manager features several advanced tools, such as customized patient templates and reports. For added safety, the software includes Trissel’s Ca/P graphical compatibility curves, which were developed in collaboration with national drug compatibility expert, Lawerence Trissel, R.Ph., to address calcium/phosphate compatibility in an effort to reduce potential errors. In addition, labels can be generated with bar-coded prescriptions to eliminate the need for manual entry on the compounder and the infusion pump.
