Arizant Healthcare Inc. released the Bair Hugger brand Spinal Underbody warming blanket at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) annual meeting in San Francisco Oct. 14-17.
The blanket, the sixth design in the Bair Hugger underbody blanket series, addresses the challenges of effectively warming spinal surgery patients. The Spinal Underbody blanket includes numerous features suited for warming spinal surgery patients, who are typically difficult to warm because of their positioning on a spinal surgery table. The blanket can be placed on the table before the patient arrives to the operating theatre and allows for full visualization and adjustment of all patient supports and pads. As with all Bair Hugger Underbody blanket models, the new Spinal Underbody blanket provides convenient, full access to the patient while helping to prevent unintended patient hypothermia.
Fluid outlets minimize pooling of fluids on the blanket surface. Perforated seals adapt the blanket to the spinal surgery cradle’s frame. The blanket is made of radiolucent materials to accommodate imaging requirements. Tie strips and an adhesive strip support and secure the blanket. A removable section allows visualization of the patient’s face throughout the procedure. Their is a head drape included to retain warm air surrounding an intubated patient.
