December 4, 2009 - A U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) pilot program based at the European Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, will require an image archive solution to support one million studies, consisting primarily of CT, CR and MR exams. The archive will provide image access to army medical installations across the DoD network.
The pilot program, Theatre Image Repository (TIR), has chosen a centralized, long-term medical image archiving solution, InDex High Availability by InSite One, for medical imaging collected in theatres of deployment around the world.
With the Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) certification completed by the National Interest Security Company (NISC), InDex will become certified to reside on the DoD network, and thus eligible to participate in the pending request for replacing the existing PACS infrastructure in DoD health facilities and regional archives. Prior to this decision the system was utilizing transported CDs with image sets.
