The overarching trend in ultrasound continues to be the development of smaller and more powerful imaging platforms. The provision of hand-carried systems that offer advanced functionality and premium image quality in a small, easy-to-use and affordable package has almost become essential to growth in ultrasound over the last few years.
The number of ultrasound systems in emergency departments will nearly double by 2015, according to a report by ultrasound industry expert and consultant Harvey Klein. One medical professional who has had success using ultrasound in the emergency department is Colleen Campbell, M.D., a professor of emergency medicine and the director of emergency ultrasound at the University of California San Diego.
Probably the biggest trend occurring in cardiovascular ultrasound systems today is the adoption of 3-D/4-D echo systems, which offer the benefits of better images, more data, better measurement quantification and faster workflow. Other key trends include: software to speed workflow with fewer keystrokes and to enhance quantification; miniaturization; increased use of tissue strain imaging, and expanded use for operating room and cath lab procedures.
February 14, 2011 – Zonare Medical Systems has loaned a z.one ultrasound system to Woodlands Church of Plover, Wis., for use on medical missions to Sumpango, Guatemala.
The z.one ultrasound system delivers high-end image quality powered by the proprietary Zone sonography technology. The system’s software-based design and architecture allows continuous performance enhancements and upgrades via software and delivers a high level of system up-time and customer productivity.
