January 20, 2012 – Nuclear cardiology imaging company Positron Corp. this week acquired Manhattan Isotope Technology LLC (MIT). Positron has acquired all of the assets, business operations and retained all employees of MIT. January 17, 2012 – Data presented at the 6th Annual Human Amyloid Imaging (HAI) meeting in Miami suggest that the investigational 18F imaging agent Flutemetamol could add value to current diagnostic tools used by physicians to evaluate neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s disease. Flutemetamol is a GE Healthcare positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer in phase III development for the detection of beta amyloid plaques.

January 13, 2012 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is updating healthcare professionals and the public about preliminary findings from ongoing investigations following the voluntary recall of CardioGen-82 last July by the manufacturer, Bracco Diagnostics. CardioGen-82 consists of a generator that is used at clinical sites to produce rubidium (Rb)-82 chloride injection. A CardioGen-82 positron emission tomography (PET) scan is one of a variety of nuclear medicine scans that use radioactive drugs to evaluate myocardial perfusion.
