October 24, 2019 — EOS imaging announced the first patient cases performed with its hipEOS 3.0 surgical planning software delivered intraoperatively by Intellijoint HIP, Intellijoint Surgical’s smart navigation system. Intellijoint HIP offers surgeon-controlled surgical guidance for intraoperative positional measurements, to optimize the treatment of total hip arthroplasty (THA) surgical results.

Artificial intelligence (AI) software developer Enlitic Inc. announced it has signed a strategic partnership with Select HealthCare Solutions, a developer, owner and operator of cancer centers across the U.S. As part of the agreement, Enlitic will receive access to Select Healthcare’s high-quality, anonymized patient data –– data that will further tune Enlitic’s predictive models for early cancer detection. In turn, Select HealthCare will receive access to Enlitic’s AI software technology and will directly contribute to the development of future Enlitic products in radiology, oncology and pathology.

Incisive CT integrates innovations in imaging, workflow and lifecycle management, helping healthcare providers to improve the CT experience for patients and staff, enabling smart clinical decision-making and increasing efficiency.

Exact Imaging received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its Sterile Transperineal Needle Guide for use with the Exact Imaging EV29L transducer. Operating on the ExactVu micro-ultrasound system, the Sterile Transperineal Needle Guide now allows urologists to perform targeted prostate biopsies, leveraging the near microscopic resolution of the micro-ultrasound for transperineal-based biopsies. The ExactVu system provides the highest real-time resolution for guidance of prostate biopsies and may now be used in procedures that use transperineal approaches for prostate biopsies.

Screening digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) results in “significantly increased CDR [cancer detection rates]” compared to full-field digital mammography (FFDM), according to an ahead-of-print article in the March issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR). DBT offered improved results irrespective of tumor type, size or grade of cancer.

To help advance medical research while preserving data privacy and improving patient outcomes for brain tumor identification, NVIDIA researchers in collaboration with King’s College London researchers recently announced the introduction of the first privacy-preserving federated learning system for medical image analysis. NVIDIA is working with King’s College London and French startup Owkin to enable federated learning for the newly established London Medical Imaging and AI Centre for Value Based Healthcare.
