February 23, 2017 — Utah-based healthcare technology company Novarad launched its Ncompass Enterprise Imaging Solution at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2017 conference and exhibition, Feb. 19-23 in Orlando, Fla.
The Ncompass Enterprise Imaging Solution manages healthcare facility imaging information by providing an efficient workflow for managing clinical multimedia throughout the hospital network. It consists of the Ncompass vendor neutral archive (VNA), the Ncompass Universal Viewer, Clinical Workflow Modules, Reporting, Universal Work List, Routing and Migration.
Ncompass creates a complete patient record as well as improves security and HIPAA compliance by transitioning the storage of images and patient information from disparate archives, remote locations and storage devices to a VNA. The VNA is indexed by patient, which improves workflow and access to patient imaging, visible light photos and videos from across the full care continuum.
The solution also includes the Ncompass Universal Viewer, a zero-footprint patient viewer that can image-enable the electronic medical record (EMR). The viewer is accessible on any device via a web browser. This allows providers at the point of care to better engage their patients by creating a visual Patient Storyboard that displays patient information from all departments in a single screen.
The Patient Storyboard is a unique imaging support tool that is capable of displaying any type of clinical multimedia. The storyboard creates an opportunity for clinicians, whether bedside or in an office visit, to have a discussion with their patient about their care supported by a full imaging record that contains all patient information relevant to the encounter.
In an effort to highlight its compliance with industry standards, Novarad participated in the RSNA Image Share validation in conjunction with the Sequoia Project to ensure its contribution to the future of patient care and interoperability. The company also saw the need for out-of-network facilities to share both DICOM and non-DICOM objects with each other, and developed an image exchange network that allows facilities to access relevant patient information while maintaining patient privacy and data security.
