Company will display latest releases of its Synapse VNA, PACS and RIS, among other technologies; educational session will discuss role of enterprise imaging, artificial intelligence and deep learning in value-based care

February 3, 2017 — Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc. and Fujifilm SonoSite Inc. will present its comprehensive Synapse Enterprise Imaging product portfolio and its SonoSite iViz solution at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference and exhibition Feb. 19-23, 2017 in Orlando, Fla. The company announced it will also sponsor an educational session titled “Value-based Care, Enterprise Imaging and the Future of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning.”

The following solutions will be on exhibit and available for demonstration:

Synapse VNA— Synapse VNA (vendor neutral archive) is an enterprise-wide medical information and image management solution that serves as a vendor-neutral, scalable, and organizationally-aware storage and distribution system for DICOM and non-DICOM objects. A comprehensive application for storing and providing access to the complete imaging record, Synapse VNA securely integrates more specialties, more devices and more data than other VNAs, according to Fujifilm. Capabilities that will be demonstrated include encounter-based workflows, secure mobile image uploads, organized data flow and management, cloud-based disaster recovery, and electronic health record (EHR) mobile and web integrations, to name a few.

Synapse 5 PACS — Designed with speed and functionality in mind, Synapse 5 PACS (picture archiving and communication system) offers subsecond delivery of extremely large datasets. Its underlying architecture promotes significantly less bandwidth consumption and tighter security. Advances in efficiency and ergonomics facilitate productivity and a better overall user experience. The latest design includes server-side image rendering and a zero-download viewer with browser and operating system flexibility, resulting in significant information technology (IT) benefits.

Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer—Utilizing the latest server-side rendering technology, Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer allows providers to securely and quickly stream all patient imaging data to authorized users. It can be accessed directly via web browsers, launched directly from the EHR, or on Synapse Mobility iOS and Android device applications. It includes a zero-footprint DICOM and non-DICOM image and report viewer for the entire patient record, a unique collaboration feature for DICOM and non-DICOM datasets that uses real time audio/video capabilities for live conferencing, and a new Share feature to exchange images or launch into other third-party integrations.

Synapse RIS—Synapse RIS (radiology information system) is a full-featured, workflow management system that is fully integrated with Synapse PACS. It features an advanced Scheduling Intelligence Engine, patient portal, business intelligence analytics and has a flexible architecture with modern interoperability standards, allowing practices to easily integrate with physicians in their community. Productivity-boosting tools include universal worklist and paperless consent forms.

SonoSite iViz—Advancing Fujifilm’s integration of ultrasound with medical IT, iViz was designed for ultra-mobility. It allows seamless access to patient information as well as the ability to store exam findings, submit reports and consult with remote providers for near real-time assessment, making it especially suited for field use. A next-generation architecture and platform, iViz is the first medical visualization solution that is enabled for bi-directional EMR connectivity through the Synapse VNA. Using this option, iViz accepts patient demographics from the EMR, eliminating manual entry and saving valuable time. With just a few taps, iViz can also send patient reports to the EMR.

The complimentary Lunch & Learn session will be held on Wed., Feb. 22. Presenters include: James Whitfill, M.D., chief medical officer at Scottsdale Health Partners; George Shih, M.D., associate professor and vice chair of informatics, Department of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College and associate attending radiologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Campus; and David Wild, director of marketing, medical informatics at Fujifilm. Whitfill and Shih will discuss the anticipated impact that novel technologies in enterprise imaging, artificial intelligence and deep learning will have on how physicians deliver value-based care to their patients in the future.
