September 13, 2016 — DICOM Grid, makers of a cloud-based, medical image management suite, today announced it is changing its name to Ambra Health and has secured an additional $6M in funding, led by venture firm Canaan Partners, to bring total funding to $39M. Ambra plans to use the new funds to ramp up sales and marketing efforts and accelerate product development.
To that end, Ambra added Ed Marshall as chief product officer and launched Think RADical, an advisory series of in-person and online events designed to help healthcare leaders drive innovation in medical imaging to transform patient care.
The name change, new brand and funding reflects the dynamic growth of Ambra Health to date. Ambra’s accomplishments in 2016 included repeating its win of the KLAS award for best medical image exchange vendor for the second year in a row. It also added marquee healthcare providers to its customer-base such as Stanford Children’s Health, Weill Cornell, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Jefferson Radiology, New England Baptist Hospital and CareWell Urgent Care.
Ambra Health also added Ed Marshall as Chief Product Officer. Before Ambra, Ed held roles as SVP and GM of the Services Industry business unit at NetSuite, as well as VP Sales and Marketing for OpenAir, which was acquired by NetSuite. Prior to NetSuite and OpenAir, Ed was a management consultant at Bain & Company, and an engineer at General Electric.
Finally, to help guide healthcare leaders through their medical image management strategy and make sense of the top trends in digital health technology, Ambra launched Think RADical, an advisory series of online and in-person events focused on driving innovation in medical imaging. The first Think RADical event will take place on Sept. 29, 2016 in New York City at the Four Seasons Hotel. The speaker lineup will feature physician leaders from New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell, Mount Sinai Health System, University of Maryland School of Medicine, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Advisory Board Company, as well as the healthcare practice of venture firm, Canaan Partners. Core topics to be covered include perspectives on the future of radiology as it breaks out of the “dark room”, commercializing innovation in healthcare and interoperability across health networks.
