Northwest hospital chain’s eighth Toshiba CT system helps streamline workflow and better monitor patient radiation dose

Toshiba, Aquilion Prime 80 CT, Saint Alphonsus Health System

August 17, 2016 — Saint Alphonsus Health System is improving its workflow and enhancing diagnostic quality and safety across its network with Toshiba’s Aquilion computed tomography (CT) systems. The healthcare system, serving communities throughout Idaho and Oregon, added a new Aquilion Prime 80, complementing its seven other Toshiba CT systems.

“Standardizing a platform across our hospitals has been important to ensuring system-wide patient safety and diagnostic efficiency,” said Scott Christensen, regional director, medical imaging, Saint Alphonsus Health System. “Toshiba offers comprehensive CT solutions that fit a wide variety of clinical needs while keeping the patient experience top of mind. We’ve seen a huge decrease in radiation dose to the patient with the advanced technology in both the Aquilion One and Aquilion Prime systems.”

The Aquilion CT systems allow Saint Alphonsus to closely track patient safety on an ongoing basis through Radimetrics’ eXposure software, which automatically records and calculates cumulative patient radiation dose. The addition of the Aquilion Prime 80 to the health system’s imaging portfolio also improves clinical productivity, allowing physicians to diagnose quickly with image reconstruction speed of up to 60 images per second.
