May 25, 2016 — vRad (Virtual Radiologic) announced that it ranked No. 19 on 2016’s InformationWeek Elite 100, a list of top business-technology innovators in the United States. The company was ranked third among companies in the “Healthcare & Medical” category. vRad was recognized for its “Trauma Protocol,” a business technology initiative vRad provides to its 2,100+ client hospital, health system and radiology group facilities in all 50 states.
Patient imaging studies designated using vRad’s patent-pending “Trauma Protocol” workflow are automatically “unbundled” by body region and distributed with the highest priority to multiple board-certified radiologists and subspecialists to be read concurrently. The automated workflow notifies all radiologists assigned to the case which colleagues are reading the other body regions for the same patient, enabling real-time collaboration at the point of care. The final radiology reports for each body region are sent to the referring physician as soon as they are completed, allowing treatment to begin as quickly as possible to improve patient outcomes and save lives. Average turnaround time using vRad’s Trauma Protocol is under 13 minutes.
“This year, we listened to our attendees who said they wanted to learn more from the IT rock stars who populate our Elite 100 list by making them central to our conference program,” said Brian Gillooly, InformationWeek Elite 100 conference co-chair and VP of event content & strategy for UBM. “By doing so, we were able to not just tell their stories, but also allow our attendees to network directly with the people driving the very IT innovation that shapes our industry.”
This is InformationWeek’s 28th year identifying and honoring the nation's most innovative users of information technology. The InformationWeek Elite 100 research tracks the technology-based investments, strategies and results of some of the best-known organizations in the country.
