Solution features tools including advanced dashboards and reports to improve decision-making in oncology cases

Elekta, HIMSS16, Healthcare Analytics, oncology information system

February 29, 2016 — At the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's 2016 meeting (HIMSS16), Elekta will showcase Elekta Healthcare Analytics. The platform provides advanced dashboards and reports to accelerate data analysis and improve clinical, operational and financial decision making. HIMSS16 convenes Feb. 29-March 4 in Las Vegas.

Introduced at HIMSS15, Elekta Healthcare Analytics is now in use at many U.S. cancer centers. The solution is designed to enable physicians and administrators to harness the enormous volume of data generated by healthcare systems.

The platform includes tools that provide new ways to:

  • Identify areas for cost reduction;
  • Eliminate inefficiencies and identify potential quality improvements;
  • Manage and measure resource utilization; and
  • Monitor care patterns and operational trends across the network.

Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, Ill., is among the clinics using Elekta Healthcare Analytics.

"The Elekta Healthcare Analytics tool provides Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital with real-time, instant access to the information we need to deliver world-class oncology care to our patients," said Marc Posner, M.D., medical director at the Center for Advanced Radiation Medicine at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital. "We have full access to key indicators including patient wait times, department workflow, time to consult, sim and treatment and other key parameters, that reflect patient satisfaction and department efficiency. Elekta Healthcare Analytics is a key tool to help us manage our oncology clinic in the new health care environment."

At HIMSS16, Elekta will also feature other Knowledge Management applications, including analytics for registries.

The company will be demonstrating Mosaiq Oncology Information System (OIS), a vital source of data for Elekta Healthcare Analytics. Mosaiq is a comprehensive OIS, offering robust information management solutions for both radiation oncology and medical oncology. Clinical teams can make fully informed decisions and optimize daily operations more efficiently with a single point of access, aggregating patient data, clinical regimens and pharmacy information.

Mosaiq has integrated additional charting functionality, as well as key stability and performance improvements for releases 2.62 and 2.64.
