Acquisition includes ECG-only technology for the elimination of chest X-ray; alternative system with novel navigation capability is under development

January 15, 2016 — Teleflex Inc. has acquired privately held Nostix LLC, developer of innovative tip confirmation systems that are used to increase the accuracy of vascular access device placement.

Currently, Nostix’s electrocardiogram (ECG)-only system is being marketed in the United States for use in placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and is used as an alternative to X-ray confirmation in adult patients.

Teleflex Chairman, President and CEO Benson Smith said the ECG-only system and other navigation technologies in development will complement Teleflex’s Arrow VPS G4 system. The acquisition will also support Teleflex’s future expansion into tip confirmation for central venous catheters, chronic hemodialysis catheters and ports.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
