December 23, 2015 — Radiology Associates LLC of Corpus Christi, Texas, recently completed a project with Royal Solutions Group to deploy Royal's Patient Portal and Kiosk solution. The practice has deployed the Royal Kiosks Base Edition Patient Portal and upgrade modules, including Meaningful Use compliance and empowering a fully digital patient registration and engagement workflow. Radiology Associates (RACC) said improved quality of care is just one benefit that has emerged from this collaboration. Already, the practice is seeing more patients, reducing no-shows and trimming time spent in waiting rooms, among other things.
"Radiology Associates is pleased to announce the recent launch of our new patient portal and onsite kiosk registration system," remarked Donna Mosser, director of information and security. "Our new patient portal is part of our ongoing commitment to provide secure and convenient access for patients to healthcare information. The portal allows our patients to view their diagnostic reports and images, send secure messages to our staff, pre-register for exams, set up appointment reminders and pay their bill. We believe that this new technology will further enable patients to become more engaged in their healthcare decision-making processes."
"We also recognize that our patient's time is valuable and how important it is for them to be seen at their scheduled appointment time. Our new kiosk registration system at each of our facilities allows patients to perform the majority of their registration paperwork electronically. In addition, patients who pre-register online can choose an express check-in process which should further expedite the registration process."
Previously, RACC employed a traditional paper-based workflow that was plagued by bottlenecks during patient intake. Recent legislation required staff to collect additional information, thus adding more steps to an already time-consuming registration process.
RACC represents the first live deployment of the Royal Patient Portal platform with direct integration to Merge RIS (radiology information system) — offered by Merge Healthcare, an IBM company — as an outpatient radiology information system designed to meet Meaningful Use.
The clinic manages the RIS in-house, thanks to the pre-configured and fully tested API integration that meshes seamlessly with document management systems. Throughout the partnership, RACC has benefited from the responsive and collaborative nature of the expert team at Royal.
Overall, the combination of Royal Solutions Group's software innovation, flexible integrations and a broad range of information management options delivers a rapid return on investment while simultaneously providing all the standard measures clients need for Meaningful Use attestation.
