December 29, 2014 — Primordial announced the debut of its application for lung cancer screening program management and its customer implementation at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC), an ACR Designated Lung Cancer Screening Center.
Primordial assisted in the migration of data from an internally developed application to the deployment of a new lung cancer screening suite of Primordial modules that provide end-to-end workflow from enrollment through follow-up.
The system offers patient navigators flexibility in handling new patient referrals to ensure proper and efficient enrollment. It also allows documentation of smoking cessation and other information distribution prior to the exam. Key data from the radiologist interpretation drive prescriptive workflow of downstream events, including communication and clinical follow-up. The system ensures that patent navigators can quickly and easily complete workflow tasks, such as generating template communication of results to patients and referring physicians and sending reminders for appointments.
Many of the data necessary to track clinical and operational metrics are captured through integration to existing information systems, not just from radiology but pathology and other systems. Primordial also gives customers the flexibility to capture additional site-specific data for research and internal quality initiatives. While currently available within the application for analytics, data is also exportable to support integration with the anticipated registries.
A few examples in the application suite include the protocoling module that facilitates proper protocol selection; the peer review and tech quality control modules that help ensure image acquisition and dictation quality; the radiologist work list that routes cases to the most appropriate radiologists and results communication modules that ensure timely management of critical, incidental and urgent findings.
