Digital mobile X-ray system features interchangeable detectors; offers new applications, including neonatal


December 15, 2014 — Siemens Healthcare introduced the Mobilett Mira Max digital mobile X-ray system at the 100th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Nov. 30-Dec. 5 in Chicago.

The system features Siemens’ MAX (Multiple Advances in X-ray) functionality, which defines functions that support users in everyday tasks (MAX assistance) and positively impact image quality (MAX detection).

Since the system is equipped with a special tube arm, it offers nearly unrestricted visibility while being moved. The integrated detector holder is designed to enable the operator to maneuver the system more easily during transport.

Mobilett Mira Max includes a PIN code option to lock and unlock the system, eliminating the need for a physical key. An additional lock function protects patient data from unauthorized access while preventing unintended system movement and radiation dispersal.

Buttons on the tube arm allow clinical staff to precisely position the system at the patient’s bedside. The tube arm also can be rotated 180 degrees, enabling convenient bedside positioning. The system weighs in at roughly 827 pounds.

To ensure use at any time, the system operates on batteries but can be switched to an external power supply, enabling immediate generation of X-ray images even when the system’s batteries are drained.

The Mobilett Mira Max also offers two new detectors with the MAX detection function. The ultra-compact MAX mini-detector measures 9.5 x 12 inches and is suited ideally for examinations of smaller joints or exams conducted in an incubator. The MAX wi-D detector (14 x 17 inches), which weighs only 6.6 pounds and is recharged automatically on the system during transportation, can be used to obtain lung and chest images in intensive care units. Combining the latest generation of detectors with 35 kilowatts (kW) of generator power and DiamondView Plus image processing software enables users to generate high-resolution images that are comparable in quality to those created by stationary X-ray systems.

The MAX functions are available on the systems Ysio Max (radiography), Luminos dRF Max and Luminos Agile Max (fluoroscopy) and Uroskop Omnia Max (urology).
