August 1, 2014 — MedXT, a cloud platform provider for medical imaging, launched its cost-effective cloud-based, mobile solution cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
MedXT simplifies imaging by providing the flexibility, ease, mobility and pay-as-you-go pricing model of the cloud to the point of care. MedXT brings the power of RIS/PACS (radiology information systems/picture archiving and communications systems) to clinics and practices by enabling clinicians to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients remotely using its easy-to-use, flexible universal image viewer. Already receiving images from hundreds of hospitals and clinics, MedXT offers an efficient image-sharing network that allows outpatient clinics and primary care providers to not only minimize imaging storage and maintenance costs but also satisfy the access requirements of patients and their community providers.
“We have a complex workflow with mobile X-ray and ultrasound and physicians in 10 states,” said Thomas Ross, CEO, Critical Medical Solutions. “The MedXT solution is excellent. It is easy to use and customize for our practice's needs.”
With the MedXT FDA-cleared universal image viewer, all providers within a practice or healthcare clinic can access images without the need to replace existing infrastructure or download additional software or apps. The zero-download digital imaging viewer can be accessed quickly and easily, allowing physicians to see images on any browser-based electronic device. This improves access to images while also lowering IT costs.
“Our workflow requires acquiring images and reports from many different sites, as well as documenting and communicating findings to International Association of Cardiology (IAC) and the American College of Radiology (ACR),” said Patrice Thomas, CEO, Certify Labs. “MedXT made it possible for us to upload image data, export DICOM [digital imaging and communications in medicine] files and communicate confidently with the people at the facilities via the secure MedXT messaging platform.”?
MedXT supports modalities such as radiology, ophthalmology, pathology, cardiology video and more. Other features include:
- Hyper specialization: Routing complex cases to the top specialist in that field for consults instead of relying on who is locally available.
- Increased throughput: In the future, nurses, assistants and technologists will scan, sample and examine patients, and experts will be behind the digital curtain planning care. This approach can “lever up” the experts, allowing them to more efficiently treat patients.
- Internet of medical devices: Robotic surgery devices, monitoring lab equipment, orthopedic planning tools, etc., today have very long R&D cycles because they are not online and cannot improve in real time. That will change, and MedXT will help link them together as telemedicine advances.
“Today’s social-networked patients expect a personalized experience in healthcare, just like in all other aspects of their lives,” said Cody Ebberson, CEO and co-founder at MedXT. “Unfortunately they are expecting this experience from healthcare professionals who are still forced to work with antiquated systems which aren’t Internet-connected, let alone mobile. We are pleased to finally change this and bring the critical field of imaging into the digital age in a powerful but affordable way.”
MedXT offers multiple language interfaces for all users. Currently, the company offers English, Spanish, French, German, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Chinese.
