July 18, 2014 — Varian Medical Systems will introduce Qumulate QA, a new cloud-based QA data management and analysis tool, at the 2014 annual meeting of the American Association for Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in Austin, Texas, June 20-23.

Qumulate was designed to allow medical physicists to maintain linear accelerator (linac) QA data through a simple and intuitive Web interface. Using this Web-based tool, physicists can create QA templates reflecting their own clinic-specific testing procedures as well as import third-party measurement data. Qumulate enables the physicist to see a linac’s QA performance including deviation from baseline, trends in the linac’s historical performance and how its QA performance compares to the QA performance of other linacs. All the data is analyzed in the cloud. The physicist will also be able to see the rankings of each QA test to better understand the QA process.

“Not only will Qumulate QA help alleviate the QA paperwork burden, it may also help standardize the QA process with the ultimate goal of delivering the highest quality of care to the patient,” said Sukhveer Singh, executive vice president of Varian’s Oncology Continuum Solutions group. “We’re excited to share this latest innovation designed to capitalize on health informatics and facilitate greater knowledge sharing among users.”

Qumulate QA is a works-in-progress and not yet available for sale.
