FDA 510(k) Cleared Solution Provides Productivity Enhancements

aycan OsiriX PRO PACS Oncology information management system (OIMS) RSNA 2014

March 27, 2014 — aycan expanded its portfolio of specialty imaging workstations with the introduction of aycan Neuro/Oncology workstation. Designed for neuro-oncology applications, the new workstation is powered by aycan workstation OsiriX PRO, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k)-cleared plug-ins from partner company Imaging Biometrics LLC.

aycan’s specialty workstations for mammography, oncology, vascular surgery and now neuro/oncology provide all the tools for general diagnostic reading and advanced post-processing, plus certified plug-ins beneficial to those specific fields of study.

“aycan is dedicated to providing high value, low cost plug-ins to our Mac-based post-processing workstation, OsiriX PRO, designed to help improve workflow and productivity in various medical disciplines while reducing costs,” said Frank Burkhardt, aycan director, North & Latin American operations. “We chose plug-ins for our Neuro/Oncology workstation from our partner company, Imaging Biometrics, given their extensive software development experience, client-centric focus, and similar quality management approach, which follows ISO standards.”

By leveraging the computational power of IB products, aycan‘s new Neuro/Oncology Workstation enables physicians to make accurate treatment considerations by providing them with proven and exclusive imaging information that has been specifically designed for monitoring therapeutic response in patients with brain cancer and other neurological diseases. “Our plug-ins dovetail seamlessly within the OsiriX PRO workstation and the bundling of our combined solutions offers the neuro-oncological community exciting and rapid access to highly sophisticated technology,” said Michael Schmainda, president and CEO of Imaging Biometrics.

All OsiriX Pro workstations offer excellent image-loading times and intuitive-user interfaces. Increasing their capability is companion product aycan mobile, the FDA-cleared iPad App for Teleradiology, which is designed for easy, fast, and secure viewing and transfer of digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) images with an iPad. OsiriX PRO is a 64-bit fast, Mac-based, vendor-neutral, highly functional advanced image-processing tool and DICOM picture archive and communication systems (PACS) workstation for conventional, multi-slice and other image reading. Based on the open source project OsiriX, aycan’s version is turnkey with FDA 510(k) clearance, CE marking and full-integration service and customer support.
