Carestream Vue PACS Remote Viewing Systems

February 10, 2014 — Carestream showcased upgrades to its healthcare IT portfolio at HIMSS 2014. Included are Carestream Vue PACS and Vue for Vendor Neutral Archive with a Windows environment and 64-bit Intel Xeon servers that can help enhance performance while reducing costs.

Carestream is also upgrading its Vue Beyond real-time business intelligence and reporting dashboard, Vue Motion zero-footprint image viewer and MyVue patient portal to efficiently interact with its new 64-bit picture archive and comminications system (PACS). This new architecture also will be deployed for Carestream’s cloud-based portfolio of services including Vue Cloud PACS and Vue Cloud Archive.

Carestream’s 64-bit PACS architecture is being designed to:
  • Increase the speed of server and client operations
  • Expedite availability and reading of large 3-D imaging studies
  • Serve as an enhanced infrastructure for server-side rendering and pay-per-use cloud services.

The PACS will deliver true 64-bit processing to address the data-intensive needs of healthcare facilities worldwide and support the move to a Windows operating system.

Carestream worked with Intel to further optimize the performance of its imaging processing software algorithms on Xeon servers. The 64-bit technology will deploy hardware-accelerated encryption that delivers an elevated level of security for Carestream’s on-site deployments and cloud services. Its virtualization will offer server consolidation, business agility and availability.

With the architecture, Carestream will be able to deliver its Vue PACS, Vue Archive and Vue Motion image viewer from the same server. The MyVue patient portal resides on a separate server to maintain security because it is accessed by patients through the Internet.
