January 30, 2014 — The Academy of Radiology Research thanked Congress for passing the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013. This legislation partially repealed sequestration cuts, and may contribute to reversal of cuts to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
NIH-supported imaging research gives physicians and researchers tools for diagnosing and treating many different types of diseases and conditions.
The Academy of Radiology Research said NIH research helps grow the American economy by developing imaging technology that is then manufactured, sold and exported to other countries.
The budget agreement gave Congress a Jan. 15, 2014 deadline to determine NIH’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget.
