DBT module offers specialized tools to enhance reading and streamline workflow
October 21, 2013 — Healthcare providers are adopting Carestream Health’s digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) module because of its ability to streamline reading workflows by displaying DBT exams and images from other mammography modalities on its Vue Mammography Workstation.
Sites that recently installed Carestream’s DBT module include Arcispedale S. Maria Nuova (IRCCS) of Italy and Owen Sound Hospital, a member of Grey Bruce Health Services of Canada.
“Healthcare providers are attracted to our DBT module because it provides the ability to view 2-D, DBT and images from other mammography modalities from the same desktop. Native DBT tools and hanging protocols further expedite the reading and interpretation of mammography exams,” said Ron Muscosky, worldwide product line manager, Healthcare Information Solutions, Carestream Health.
Carestream’s digital breast tomosynthesis module is designed with specialized tools to enhance reading:
The DBT module can enhance workflow by allowing healthcare providers to store, route, display and query/retrieve DBT exams from digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM)-compliant acquisition devices. Comparison tools enable radiologists to use personalized hanging protocols for DBT exams along with other procedures.
The workstation is integrated with a broad range of breast imaging modalities, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems, archives, picture archive and communication system (PACS) and information systems. The Web-based Vue Mammography Workstation can be a standalone device or integrated as part of a Vue PACS to deliver convenient access and synchronization of patient information, procedures and status for a single site or a multi-site healthcare system.
The Vue Mammography Workstation displays traditional mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and general radiology exams to equip radiologists to work efficiently from a single desktop. Carestream has more than 1,000 Vue Mammography Workstations installed worldwide.
