October 3, 2012 — Konica Minolta Medical Imaging announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Aero DR 10 x 12 wireless plate for sale. This plate is for sites seeking a smaller and lighter wireless flat panel for use in general X-ray and specialty applications such as orthopedics and pediatrics. This includes the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where the Aero DR 10 x 12 detector fits most basinets and can be used with all major portable X-ray systems from various manufacturers.

The Aero DR 10 x 12 complements large field detectors and can be integrated into existing Konica Minolta Medical Imaging systems. In addition to most standard digital imaging requirements, it can also be used for cross-table, extremity, spine and sunrise patella views with a high tolerance to patient weight loading. The Aero DR 10 x 12 delivers a gentler imaging experience and high dose efficiency by providing lower exposure dose requirements compared to standard CR and GdOS based imaging systems.

Similar to the Aero DR 14 x 17 and 17 x 17 plates, the Aero DR 10 x 12 improves workflow efficiencies with speed — images appearing on the console display in less than two seconds — and high image quality. The new panel has the same power-saving technology, rigid and durable body and long-life battery.

Hospitals and imaging centers can reduce operational and associated costs for digital imaging with the smaller detector compared to full-size detectors. The ability to share the Aero DR 10 x 12 plate between departments further enhances a center’s total cost of ownership — Konica Minolta’s roaming feature allows for shared resources between multiple rooms.
