Imaging Informatics Innovations on Display at SIIM 2013

Greetings from the show floor of the 2013 annual meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), taking place at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. This year's theme, "Translating Today's Inovations to Tomorrow's Clinical Practice," is allowing imaging professionals to stay on top of best practices, strategies and trends, wtih insights from real-world experts and respected peers on timely topics in imaging informatics. Innovation and Entrepreneurship in imaging informatics is being highlighted throughout the meeting in learning tracks, special sessions and in Innovator Alley in the Exhibit Hall. This year's new Innovators and Entrepreneurship Learning Track is teaching how to take ideas and turn them into usable products with a sustainable business plan.

New for attendees this year is the ability to access online evaluations and process CE/CMEs using QR codes. Prior to attending the show, conference-goers could download a QR code scanner to their smartphone or tablet to take full advantage of the new online evaluation and CE/CME submission method. Upon attending each session, the code next to the session description in the Final Program Guide could be scanned, and if claiming CEs or CMEs, contact information could be added.

Also new to SIIM 2013 is the Town Hall session format, designed so attendees can ask questions on carry on conversations from previous learning track sessions. A lot of great information is being shared, in addition to it being a great networking opportunity.

And of course the expo floor is offering exciting opportunities that enhance the knowledge and expertise of attendees through exhibits, vendor demonstrations and a variety of educational activities offered throughout the hall, including vendor presentations in the Innovation Theater; scientific posters and demonstrations; and roundtable discussions.

If you haven't already, be sure to stop by booth 415 and visit with the Imaging Technology News team! And, mark your calendar for next year's show, May 15-17, 2014, in Long Beach, Calif.
