To expand imaging capabilities and improve productivity, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. introduces Innovation 2013, new FDA-cleared software advancements for the Aplio 500 and Aplio 300 ultrasound systems.
April 8, 2013 — Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. has introduced Innovation 2013, new U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared software advancements for the Aplio 500 and Aplio 300 ultrasound systems.
Innovation 2013 offers the latest enhancements in ultrasound imaging, including B-Mode and Color Doppler, with additional features as options:
• Luminance: A 4-D rendering and lighting technique producing stellar fetal images, Luminance can better visualize the fetal face and other anatomical structures by applying color and illumination to enhance features.
• New transducers: The PVT-781VT (3–11 MHz) is a high-resolution, endocavitary transducer designed for producing superb endovaginal and prostate imaging. This transducer supports the Aplio 500’s Smart Fusion technology, which synchronizes computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) with ultrasound images on a single screen. The PLT-1005BT (5–14 MHz) is a high-frequency, high-resolution linear array transducer ideal for small-parts imaging, including breast. This transducer has a wide aperture of 58 millimeters.
• Workflow enhancements: Next-generation Quick Assist Protocols, designed to automate workflow, increase consistency and standardize exams, allow for greater focus on the patient.
All existing Aplio 500 and 300 customers will receive the Innovation 2013 software upgrade complimentary, excluding new options.
The systems also offer:
• Fly Thru: An industry first, Fly Thru uses 4-D ultrasound to “fly through” interiors of fluid-filled ducts and vessels for better exploration of lesions and masses, and to assist in planning interventional procedures.
• Smart Fusion: Combines the best in imaging by synchronizing CT or MR with ultrasound to locate hard-to-find lesions and aid in ultrasound-guided biopsies.
