This traditionally has been accomplished using the cumbersome process of mailing or physically carrying CDs to referring physicians. Often these CDs do not open or take a long time to download. Stage 2 Meaningful Use requirements for certified electronic medical records (EMR) also call for the sharing of medical images electronically to help improve efficiency and reduce healthcare costs. All of these factors have given rise to remote image access systems.
March 5, 2014 — Claron Technology announced it has been awarded CE mark for its NilRead zero-footprint viewer for the diagnostic interpretation of medical images. Coinciding with this, Claron has opened its European headquarters in Hasselt, Belgium, under the direction of Tom Tilmans, director of sales. In addition to spearheading direct sales efforts, Tilmans will recruit and manage a team of European partners and distributors.
Claron Technology will debut at HIMSS 2014 enhancements for a streamlined image and video upload for both mobile devices and desktop PCs. This will add functionality to its family of Nil universal, zero-footprint viewers. The technology requires a browser only, not installation of an app or engine. The technology supports mobile devices and allows zero-footprint upload of both digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) and non-DICOM data from notebook and desktop computers.
Claron Technology has received Health Canada diagnostic approval for its NilRead zero-footprint medical image viewer. NilRead enables diagnostic interpretation of DICOM image files and related digital information anywhere and anytime on a diagnostic workstation and mobile devices when a workstation is not available.
