Eizo to Unveil Final Models of LED-Backlit Diagnostic Monitors at RSNA 2012

September 26, 2012 — Eizo Nanao Technologies Inc. announced they will unveil the RadiForce RX440, a new 4 MP (2,560 x 1,600 native resolution) color LCD monitor, and the GX540, a 5 MP (2,048 x 2,560 native resolution) monochrome LCD, at the 2012 meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Both models are LED-backlit monitors, ensuring the stable and reliable performance needed in diagnostic monitors while increasing the service life of the display, since LEDs deteriorate far slower than traditional CCFL backlights. With the addition of these two models, Eizo’s diagnostic monitor lineup is now an all LED-backlit offering.

An integrated front sensor housed within the front bezel measures brightness and grayscale tones and calibrates to the DICOM Part 14 standard. Without having to connect and disconnect, an IFS performs QC tasks and does not interfere with the viewing area. This cuts monitor quality control workload and maintenance costs.

The Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) function provides optimum backlight luminance uniformity that is considered difficult to attain due to the inherent characteristics of LCD monitors. A presence sensor feature unites convenience with savings by ensuring that the monitor conserves power when it is not in use. The presence sensor prompts the monitor to switch to power save mode when it detects the user is away from the monitor, and then resumes normal operation when the user returns.

The RX440 provides a solution for displaying both monochrome and color images on one monitor. A high quality IPS panel with high contrast ratio and high brightness makes the model ideal for displaying 3-D rendering and fusion color images as well as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) monochrome images compliant with the DICOM Part 14 standard.

The GX540’s high contrast ratio brings out the subtle differences in similar shades of gray and sharper rendering of details when displaying monochrome images such as digital mammography, MRI and ultrasound images. A 10-bit simultaneous grayscale display extends the grayscale fidelity to the boundaries of human visual perception abilities and helps radiologists discern the finest nuances within an image sometimes required for an accurate diagnosis.
