Barco MDSC-2226 Hybrid OR Flat Panel Display RSNA 2012

September 14, 2012 — Barco announced the launch of its MDSC-2226, a 26-inch surgical display providing full compatibility with Barco’s networked digital operating room. Featuring an integrated IP-to-AV decoder, an easy-clean design and a unique cable management system, the MDSC-2226 is a perfect fit for modern digital operating rooms.

The 26-inch display is the first surgical display offering integrated functionality for use with Barco’s Nexxis for OR solution, ensuring smooth distribution of uncompressed video and data over the IP network without delay. For traditional installations, two additional display models are available offering the widest connectivity, including DVI, DisplayPort, 3G-HDSDI, HDMI and analog sources.

“The MDSC-2226 combines the best features of our first generation of surgical displays with a new design, an LED backlight and an optional decoder to stream uncompressed video-over-IP,” said Johan Stockman, Barco’s VP of strategic marketing for surgical imaging. “We simply wanted the new display to be easy to use and install while guaranteeing the most detailed images in the procedure room today.”

The MDSC-2226 offers full 10-bit video processing and backlight stabilization, presenting long-term accurate images with near-zero latency for perfect hand-eye coordination. With its broad input connectivity, the display also offers flexible multi-modality imaging (PiP and PaP) in new integrated operating rooms.

With Barco’s advanced ITU-R.709 HD and DICOM calibration technologies, the new high-bright surgical display provides surgeons with excellent depth perception and precise color and grayscale images. Additionally, the new surgical display features a native full HD resolution LCD panel, making it perfectly suited for use with today’s state-of-the-art endoscopy camera systems.

The MDSC-2226 comes with a smart cable management system for a clutter-free setup. Its lightweight design (less than 22 lbs/10 kg) allows easy mounting onto surgical booms and spring arms. Moreover, the use of energy-efficient LED backlights lowers the heat output, ensuring safe operation.

Due to its smooth surface, splash-proof housing and protective screen cover, the MDSC-2226 is easy to clean and disinfect. The fanless design prevents the spread of contaminants.

The new MDSC-2226 surgical display will be commercially available in October 2012.
