June 14, 2012 — Intelerad Medical Systems announced at SIIM 2012 in Orlando, Fla., the new support for tomosynthesis in the IntelePACS (picture archiving and communications system) Breast Imaging module.
The Intelerad Breast Imaging module offers a universal worklist that eliminates the need for dedicated workstations and gives access to multimodality images regardless of where radiologists read from, with the option to integrate with a breast imaging, reporting and data system (BIRADS).
“Intelerad’s new tomosynthesis module seamlessly adds new modality capabilities into the existing mammography workflow and viewing environment, with no additional capital investment for new workstations” said Rick Rubin, chief engineering officer at Intelerad. “While other vendors require dedicated workstations or different workflows, Intelerad can support the new tomosynthesis modality seamlessly, enhancing and extending the Breast Imaging unified worklist and workflow optimization.”
Intelerad’s Breast Imaging module with tomosynthesis support enables more accurate and earlier cancer detection within existing workflows, improving the patient experience through less recalls and associated anxiety, helping referring physicians put patient care first.
