March 1, 2012 — Health Canada has issued a medical device license for the Carestream DRX-Revolution Mobile X-Ray System, which approves its use by healthcare facilities in Canada. This mobile digital radiography (DR) imaging system delivers high image quality, easy maneuverability and numerous productivity-enhancing features. The system is expected to begin shipping by June 2012.
“The DRX-Revolution is specifically designed to address needs voiced by more than 80 radiology professionals who were involved in the product’s design process,” said Diana Nole, president of Carestream Health’s Digital Medical Solutions. “It features an easy-to-position tube head and a collapsible column that provides improved visibility and greater safety when moving the portable imaging system.”
The DRX-Revolution can enhance image quality for portable exams with its 32kW generator, DRX detector and Carestream software that allow radiographers to easily align the tube with a grid. Grid use can help radiographers achieve high image quality and reduce the need for retakes. The system’s collapsible column also allows unobstructed views for enhanced visibility and safety while moving the system.
The product also offers a long tube head reach, which makes it easier for radiographers to quickly and effectively conduct X-ray exams despite the crowded presence of bedside medical equipment, leading to rapid positioning; minimal intrusion on staff and surrounding equipment; and faster capture of high-quality images for use by clinicians.
The system has a main 19-inch monitor and an 8-inch tube head monitor to provide two work zones, which can further improve productivity and performance.
