Onrad Chooses DICOM Systems' Vendor Neutral Archive

January 17, 2012 — Digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) Systems, a healthcare IT company and teleradiology interoperability expert, announced their selection as the Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) vendor of choice by Onrad Inc. a California-based teleradiology group.

DICOM Systems' VNA works with any existing hardware, and has the capacity to bring current storage to a picture archive and communications system (PACS) archive at any time, as DCMSYS DICOM and the HL7 router is a teleradiology gateway which connecting everything together.

The implementation of DCMSYS VNA cuts out all costs beyond that of archiving data, including data sharing.

Jesse Salen, chief technology officer at Onrad, said, "The ArcStore DICOM Archive VNA is one of the most robust VNAs on the market for the price. It allows us to seamlessly store and archive medical images in a way which meets HIPAA guidelines, as well for our own contractual obligations, in an economical and secure way. For us, the best part is that the VNA also runs the standard DCMSYS software suite, which allows us to route images between the many facilities that we service and our datacenter, as well as enabling seamless HL7 mapping. We have been very impressed by the amount of functionality which DICOM systems has been able to squeeze into this little box, as well as its highly competitive price point."
