First American Teleradiology Company Helps Fill Medical Service Gaps in Guyana

January 12, 2012 — WorldRad.com has been selected as the exclusive provider of round-the-clock teleradiology services for Guyana Imaging Providers in a country that suffers from a national shortage of qualified radiologists. WorldRad.com -- the international division of the United States teleradiology company USARAD.com LLC -- will provide assistance to cover the radiology practice’s general and obstetric (OB) ultrasound services.

According to Michael Yuz, M.D., MBA, CEO of both Internet-based teleradiology companies, said, “The agreement will play a crucial role in bringing a higher quality-of-care to an underserved population in tremendous need and providing a model of how teleradiology services can benefit patients and practices in areas facing a shortage of medical imaging services.”

To deliver its services, WorldRad.com stores and accesses all picture archive and communications system (PACS), related technology and images on the secure USARAD.com cloud, enabling streamlined, flexible connectivity from any location.

Maintaining the same business practices that have brought USARAD.com its high degree of success in the United States, WorldRad.com will offer the site the services of a full range of sub-specialty radiologists as the needs of Guyana Imaging expand.

WorldRad.com is committed to delivering fast service, with STAT studies within an average of 15 to 20 minutes and routine cases within several hours.  The company will also be available to provide consultations and second opinions on exams read in Guyana.

WorldRad.com is headed by the same management and utilizes the same Radiology-On-Demand platform as USARAD.com.  It is committed to providing services at reasonable fees to address the needs of the local marketplace.  All exams from Guyana will be read by certified radiologists located within the United States.

Launched in October 2011, WorldRad.com provides services across the globe, from Europe and Asia to the Middle East, South America and more.  It fills a dearth in underdeveloped countries where trained physicians are at a premium, as well as in other locations experiencing a radiology shortage similar to that seen in the United States 10 years ago.

“In some countries, the average report turnaround time when using local radiologists is not minutes but weeks,” comments Yuz.  “American radiologists are highly trained and well regarded throughout the world.  WorldRad can significantly enhance the speed and quality of care in many locations and is already doing so in such locations as Russia, the Middle East and Latin America.”
