September 23, 2011 – GE Healthcare announced the availability of HDlive and Volume Speckle Reduction Imaging (SRI) for women’s health imaging products within its Voluson Expert series platform. These innovations are being showcased for the first time in the United States at the 2011 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) congress, Sept. 18-22 in Los Angeles.
HDlive is one of the new rendering tools on the new rendering engine on the Expert series platform, providing anatomical realism and increasing depth perception. The imaging capability can help medical professionals achieve a deeper understanding of relational anatomy, enhance diagnostic confidence and improve patient communication. This is available on the Voluson E8 and E8 Expert.
Instead of single slice imaging, Volume SRI utilizes volumetric, multi-plane imaging to enhance the speckle reduction in clinical images. The tool improves 3-D/4-D image quality in multi-planar studies and rendered mode, and also provides an enhanced smoothing effect on rendered images.
New advanced transducer technology complements the latest hardware additions. Optimized for OB/GYN purposes, the following 2-D and 3-D/4-D probes enable quality images across a wide range of general and specialized exams:
· RAB6-D – This new ultra-light volume transducer is 40 percent lighter than the previous version. Its ergonomic design provides high image quality in 2-D and 3-D/4-D while sitting comfortably in the operator’s hand.
· C4-8-D – This new wideband transducer features a high frequency and small footprint, providing high-resolution obstetrical images during each trimester.
