September 13, 2011 – Konica Minolta Medical Imaging announced the Aero DR Wireless system has received clearance from Health Canada, making the system available for sale in Canada. The system is designed and developed exclusively by Konica Minolta and offers end users the ability to provide reduced patient dose while increasing image quality and maintaining patient care.

The system’s flat panel detector incorporates the Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator that boasts ultra-high detector quantum efficiency (DQE) for high-quality images even with minimum X-ray dose exposure. By combining the CsI panel and the company’s image processing technology from its Regius systems, the Aero DR assures end users of consistent and reliable high quality imaging.

Weighing only 6.3 lbs, the wireless Aero DR panel incorporates a unique battery design for extended life and short charge cycles. It provides either a Universal Fit solution for converting existing analog rooms to digital suites, or a full room radiography solution when combined with a new X-ray purchase. The detector design fits existing wall stands and bucky trays without modifications, maximizing investment in existing X-ray imaging equipment.

Workflow improvements with the imaging console include an in-room sub console that delivers control of imaging parameters patient side, allowing more time for the technologist to focus on the patient. The imaging console also controls Konica Minolta computed radiography (CR) devices, allowing users to enjoy the same look and feel for their CR and digital radiography (DR) front ends.
