August 9, 2011 — At the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) meeting Aug. 14-18, Carestream Health will debut two new mobile imaging retrofit kits that enable healthcare providers to convert existing portable imaging systems to digital radiography (DR) using a Carestream DRX detector. This conversion makes the speed and image quality of DR available at a fraction of the cost of a new DR-based imaging system. Both new retrofit systems are designed for use with most suppliers’ X-ray imaging equipment and will be available in the fall of 2011.
The new Carestream DRX-Transportable System/Universal Mobile retrofit kit will convert hospitals’ existing analog mobile X-ray systems to DR technology using the wireless, cassette-size DRX detector. The DRX detector delivers good positioning flexibility and allows healthcare providers to use existing grids and cassette holders. This system is available with Carestream’s Tube and Line Visualization Software that provides instant verification for physicians who are placing tubes and peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) lines in seriously ill or injured patients.
The DRX-Transportable System/Field Portable kit will convert X-ray imaging systems used in diverse applications such as nursing homes and field hospitals to a DRX detector. The system components are packaged in a convenient, protective carrying case.
Carestream’s DRX family allows healthcare facilities to share detectors with multiple imaging systems. For example, a DRX detector can be used in a mobile system for early morning patient exams and then transferred to a DRX-1 system or DRX-Evolution system in the radiology department or emergency room. This ability to move and share detectors across multiple imaging systems delivers exceptional return on investment and helps facilities with limited budgets deliver enhanced patient care.
Carestream also offers tightly integrated DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits for selected GE, Siemens and Shimadzu mobile imaging systems. These kits are designed specifically for each imaging system.
