Varian Medical Systems Inc., a supplier of X-ray tubes and the PaxScan line of digital X-ray image detectors, will introduce two new PaxScan products at RSNA 2007. The PaxScan 4336R adds an industry standard 14-by-17-inch detector to Varian’s line of flat panel products. Designed for use in general radiographic applications, the PaxScan 4336R is the industry’s first digital radiography product with the same external dimensions as a conventional 14-by-17-inch film cassette, so it can easily be inserted into a standard bucky or used as a portable imager. The PaxScan 4343R is Varian’s largest flat-panel X-ray image detector. At 17-by-17 inches, it is designed for permanent mounting in radiographic tables or wall stands, or for any application that requires a large field of view. Except for the physical size, both panels incorporate identical detector arrays and readout electronics, making them an excellent radiographic imaging solution for any general purpose room, according to manufacturer. Image data and control signals, which are based upon an industry standard Gigabit Ethernet interface, can be passed to and from these detectors using standard network interface cards. Images are transmitted instantaneously to the image processor for display and diagnosis. Housings and cable attachments are designed for simple integration into any diagnostic imaging system.
